Building an Exercise Plan That Sticks

Guided exercise is one of the most consistently useful tools we have — and also the one that's easiest to abandon after a couple of weeks. The plans that actually stick tend to share a few things in common.

Start smaller than feels necessary

A handful of exercises done consistently beats a long list done for a week and then dropped. We'd rather build a habit you'll keep than hand you a binder you won't open.

Tie it to what you're already doing

Exercises that attach to something already in your routine — after brushing your teeth, before bed — are far more likely to stick than a separate "workout" you have to remember to schedule.

We check in on it

At each visit we ask what's actually happening at home, not just what we prescribed. If something isn't fitting into your life, we adjust it rather than repeat instructions that aren't working.
