What it is
Custom orthotics are shoe inserts built specifically for your feet, designed to support the arch and correct how load moves through your foot as you walk or stand. Unlike over-the-counter insoles, they're shaped around an assessment of your actual gait and foot structure.
What to expect
We start with a hands-on gait and foot assessment — how you stand, how you walk, and where your foot loads unevenly. If that assessment shows a clear mechanical issue contributing to pain in the foot, knee, hip, or back, we'll talk through whether custom orthotics make sense. Once fitted, they take some time to break in, and we check on comfort and fit at your follow-up visits.
Who it's for
Patients with plantar fasciitis, certain knee or hip complaints tied to foot mechanics, or a clearly asymmetric gait pattern tend to see the most benefit. If your assessment doesn't show a mechanical issue orthotics would address, we'll say so rather than recommend a pair that won't help.
